Little Jenny Wren

The wren, England's second smallest bird, boasts a surprisingly loud and vibrant song. In the cold winter months the Wren becomes a shining symbol of hope and activity on dreary short days. Its powerful singing can be heard even when the little bird cannot be seen. There are many occasions when I have been walking  through the cold cemetery next to my house and the Wren's song has cut through my gloomy mid winter mood and lifted my spirits. At a casual glance, it might appear unremarkable, shades of brown blending into the background. However, I wanted to capture complexity of this bird with each careful brushstroke; the intricate texture and subtle variations in tone of its plumage create an image of beauty. Each feather showcases nature's intricacy. I wanted to transform the seemingly ordinary into something truly extraordinary in my artwork. To me the Wren is a true example of how something small and apparently insignificant can actually make a huge difference both visually and emotionally.

The original image is painted in gouache.The Giclée print is reproduced from the original painting and is created on xpression textured 300gsm archival paper, ensuring that the quality and texture enhance the visual depth of the image. Each print is unique; I apply gold leaf by hand, adding a distinctive touch that reflects my artistic process. This handcrafted approach means that no two prints are ever exactly the same, making each piece a truly original work of art infused with my personal touch. I sign each print by hand and add the edition number. Ideal for bird lovers and art enthusiasts alike, this print brings a touch of nature's beauty into any space.
